Welcome To The Home Of It’s Not That Bad
It’s the show that does its best to defend the unfairly maligned movies, to find the silver linings in the films deemed “less than great”. Every week, host Jason Whissell is joined by a guest to discuss a movie that has been poorly rated by the critics or by the fans. We do our very best to find good things to say about them, and to show those flicks in a light that you may have not noticed before. We are also always happy to hear what movies you think should be covered, as well as what you thought of the movies themselves. We’ll be posting blogs on here as well as keep you updated as to what to expect in the coming months.

There Can Only Be One – Amaranthe

We go through the 6-album studio discography of Sweden’s amazing power metal masters, creating our best-of list as only we know how…one song per album.

Ep. 78 – The Immaculate Room

Normally, when someone is put in to a white room with nothing else in it, it’s not a good thing. Similarly, when two people enter a challenge on a Netflix production with millions of dollars up for grabs, it’s also not a good thing. We’re about to muddy the cinescape as we try to prove to you that The Immaculate Room is not that bad.

Ep. 77 – Road House 2

They say that the longer the wait, the more satisfying the experience. If that’s true, then fans waiting 17 years for a sequel to a classic 80’s film should have had a wonderful time bolstered by the end of their anticipation…or did they? Find out as we attempt to prove to you that Road House 2 is not that bad. Featuring Gomez from the SleevieG Show. Be sure to go listen to his show wherever you get your podcasts or watch it on Youtube.

There Can Only Be One – Harem Scarem

Canadian rockers Harem Scarem have been cranking out amazing music since their first studio album hit in 1991. On this episode, guitarist Pete Lesperance joins the show to go through 15 albums and picking one song from each to create his ultimate playlist. Hear it straight from the guitar virtuoso himself.
Below, you will find the playlists from both of our picks from the Harem Scarem Discography. It should be noted that the Karma Cleansing and Rubber albums are not currently on Spotify, and only one song from Big bang Theory is available for streaming on the service. Nevertheless, I highly encourage you to seek out those albums.
As mentioned in the show, Pete was gracious enough to be a guest on my old podcast, Made You A Mixtape. Below, you’ll find that interview. A huge thank you to both Pete and Bill Miller from Sharp 9 Music for making this all possible. A huge kudos to all members of Harem Scarem, past and present, for making such great music.

Ep. 76 – Ghost Rider

People love superhero movies…they’re loud, bombastic, completely over-the-top and can be unpredictable in how unhinged things can get. People also love Nic Cage. He’s loud, bombastic, completely over-the-top and is unpredictable in how unhinged he can act. Seems like a match made in heaven, right? Find out as we attempt to prove to you that Ghost Rider is not that bad.

Ep. 75 – That’s My Boy

There are bad Adam Sandler movies…and there are wrong Adam Sandler movies. This one may be a bit of both. Regardless, we attempt to take a movie that actually made the Wikipedia list of the movies considered the worst and try to find good things to say. Is it that bad?

Ep. 74 – Krull

In the 80’s there were a lot of sci-fi and fantasy movies soaring to the big screen. Worlds of wonder and fantastical things were aplenty at the theatre. But what would happen when one movie decided it wanted to be both a fantasy film and a sci-fi film? Throw in the coolest fidget spinner ever and you have a hit, right? Maybe not, but we’re here to prove to you that Krull is not that bad.

Ep. 73 – Tron Legacy

In 1982, the world was introduced to the Commodore 64. With a whopping 64 kilobytes of RAW, it was state of the art. We were also introduced to Tron, a world that took more than in 64kb to make. In 2010, we were introduced to the iPad with 256 megabytes of RAM. We also got Tron: Legacy. History shows us that with game changing technology comes great Tron movies…because Tron: Legacy is not that bad.

There Can Only Be One – Dream Theater

Musician Sean Faust joins the show to go through the studio discography of prog-metal legends Dream Theater. From When Dream And Day Unite to A View From The Top Of The World, the band has had an incredible impact on the prog genre. Be sure to let us know what your fav Dream Theater song is.
Below are the playlists of both Sean and I. It should be noted that Dream Theater’s first album, When Dream And Day Unite, is currently not on Spotify. Also, a note from Sean’s list: there are 3 songs listed from the Awake album. However, the three songs are considered parts of a suite, and therefore were allowed to be picked as one song.
